Remarks: Hi all, I was stationed at the "Bush" 5th USAAG, in Buren, Germany from 1983 until 1989. I was assigned to HHD, in the commo section as a SATCOM operator in the old Headquarters building. The CDR, when I was there was "Smoken" Joe Carden. I also spent time at the 35th USAAD, in Hohenkirchen on the North Sea. I had great times there and still return to visit some of my old german friends. I lived off base in the town of Haaren, on the main street (Paderborn str.). When the 5th USAAG started closing down I transfered to the 41st Ord CO. in K-town Germany until I ETS'd in 1992 and I am now with the 103rd FA RI National Guard. I am currently on my 2nd deployment in Iraq. In my 26 year carreer I still remember the times I had in Buren. I have been to the old site, most of the buildings still stand, but is very much over grown. To any of those who spent time in any of my old units, please contact me. Mike Medeiros, N. Providence, R.I.

How about Wiley Thompson, Dewey Barber, Floro Saupan, Bob Lutz, Dan Norfleet? Does anyone remember good times at Dindorfs?

Remarks: I served 31 months and 16 days At Hq & Hq AWSCOM in Pirmasens,Germany. My Job was to drive officers and civilians out to inspect the missile bases. Been to all of them. Love the time we played war against 4th Ord from Miesau they flunked the first time and they were ticked pretty bad with 7" snow on the ground. To think that was back in 1962 but I enjoyed every minute of it…

Remarks: First my name is Elton Hill. I'm from Zanesville, OH. I served with the 3/71st ADA in Dallau Germany from 1976 thru Oct 1979. I came across this site by chance I'm glad to see the work that you have done. It has been good to hear of others, but I still haven't seen anybody that I have known. While I was stationed in Dallau, Germany I made 3 trips to Chania Crete. I remember one year when we fired it was a cloudy day and after the missile went downrange 100 miles and detonated the skies cleared. They said that was the power of the Nike Hercules Missile. I hope that someone will remember me and wright. Thank you for keeping us in touch with others. Elton Hill

Name: Larry Lamb
EmailAddress: larry.lamb@windmill-sbs.com
Remarks: I started my Nike Herc career at Fort Bliss in 1966, January, after basic at Fort Polk, B-4-2 on south fort. I went thru AIT (16b) and was reassigned to my first unit, A Battery, 1st Bn, 333rd ADA Bn until Oct. 1966 when I was reassigned to the 40th ADA Det at Fort Bliss, initially to be reassigned in Turkey. That didn't pan out and I re-upped for 6 and went home on 30 days leave, and when I returned, I was reassigned to the 44th ADA Det (actually the same unit redesignated). In December 66 the unit was again re-designated to the 508th Arty Det (Hercules), and was ultimately reassigned via a unit move to Schoppingen, Germany. I was stationed with Hq and A Det with the Royal dutch Airforce located in Schoppingen from Feb 67 until Feb 69. I met my wife to be in Enschede, Holland. (Actually I was following suit, because a number of my mates, Mike Kincannon, and several others led the way ahead of me. Later on I was stationed in places like A Battery School Brigade at Fort Bliss, D Battery 3/71st ADA, and also again A Battery 1/333 Ada Bn at Fort Bliss when I helped close out the Battalion prior to being reassigned to Germany again. I went the whole route, and retired at 22 years as an E-6 But I changed my MOS to MP, and civilian police officer, and now I work for Customs in Germany. Hope some of the old mates may see this and contact me. Larry.lamb@windmill-sbs.com
